| WV Firefighters Insurance Issues |
Thu. Jul 22nd 2010
Recently, file photos/videos of Citizens Fire Company were depicted in a news story that was aired on a local NBC affiliate station, discussing the insurance issues facing the fire companies in the State of West Virginia.
As stated in the news story, "West Virginia law currently states a firefighter or any employee injured in the line of duty can sue the department or its officers if the employer deliberately sent the employee into a dangerous situation." Although we all are facing the same insurance dilemma, Citizens Fire Company is aggressively searching for ways to cover the liability of all of our company officers and/or supervisors.
This said, Citizens Fire Company would like to ensure the residents of Jefferson County and surrounding jurisdictions that our firefighters and officers do not have any intention of joining any strike or disrupting our current operations because of this issue. We will continue to provide the highest possible level of service, in every emergency situation.
Please contact your local representative(s) to learn more about this issue.
